    Character Name: Teresa Delphina Alsace
    Character Age: 17
    Character Race: Standard Human
Character Description (Traits of the character, such as their physique, and mindset):

    – Physique –
    Height: 167cm (5’47)
    Weight: 49kg
    Modifications: N/A
Other notes: Teresa has a fairly slender build, and isn’t particularly into sports. As such, she’s not very strong, though she’s fairly agile from her tendency to climb around machines.

    – Mindset –
Personal: Teresa holds great respect for machines, even those not inhabited by an AI, a trait passed down from her engineer father. Has a tendency to give nicknames to both people and machines alike.

Speech: A motormouth with a broken filter. Highly excitable, Teresa has the tendency to charge into a conversation without thinking it out. She does have her more levelheaded times, however.

    – Other –

    Skills:

Tinkering – The abundance of spare parts in her homeworld led to Teresa developing the hobby and skill of piecing together functioning items from basic parts, and repairing derelicts through… unconventional means.

Piloting – She’s clocked in quite a bit of flight time both simulated and real, and has no issues handling small-medium craft at high speed. Her dogfighting and gunnery skills leave quite a bit to be desired, however.

Basebuilding – With aforementioned tinkering skills, Teresa can set up a basic outpost without much difficulty, allowing her to establish safehouses in which she can stow away for the night.

    Character Backstory:

In the decades preceding Teresa’s birth, the distant colony world of Waldreich-Styier was rife with a series of intermittent border conflicts and subsequent ceasefires. The planet’s mountainous terrain made air – and later, space – craft a significant cultural aspect of the communities which resided there.

Nearly forty years of bloodshed resulted in gradually jaded public opinion on the various sides of conflict, finally culminating in an ultimate armistice that brought much-welcomed respite from the Four Decades War. Though the heads of the various nations remained at each others necks, the battle-weary men and women of everyday life attempted to put the horrors of the past behind in a bid to rebuild their war-torn planet. Tanks were given new life as tractors, bunkers as homes, and the enemies of the past as the friends and family of the future.

Teresa Delphina Alsace was born into the wake of what would come to be known as the Restoration Era. As the youngest daughter of a ex-fighter pilot and an aerospace engineer, Teresa grew up with the technological legacy of the war around her. Large swathes of land had become the resting grounds for military equipment discarded in the wake of peace. Teresa often found herself exploring the derelict machines abandoned near her home, the ones that otherwise she might only have seen in boring old documentaries and ancient books. Fascinating as it was, the ships she found never did seem the same on the ground as they did in the air.

And so, when she unearthed a flightworthy Mistral Interplanetary LR-7 Raven within an abandoned hangar, she knew what she had to do.

Restoring the craft wasn’t easy. Many of the electronics within had rotted away due to disuse, and some of the more delicate components required replacements. The warp systems in particular were extremely challenging to replace, but the abundance of spare parts in the various other crafts in the area allowed Teresa to slowly restore the ship to its former glory. She’d even managed to find and salvage one of the Shrike parasite fighters intended to be paired with other MI large craft. At the same time, she dug up obscure training manuals and entered her school’s flight club, clocking in hours in the simulator. Her parents noticed, but never gave anything beyond knowing smiles.

When the job was finished, Teresa started taking the ship out for runs in the local vicinity. As she grew more and more comfortable with it, she registered a formal pilot’s license and began making short distance trips across the countryside.

It was around this time when her parents finally confronted her about her activities. Though Teresa braced for the worst, they expressed only support for her aspirations as a pilot. The skies of Waldreich-Styier were gradually becoming less friendly, however, and they gave her a solution:

    Space.

The petty skirmishes of her world would not extend much beyond the planet’s orbit. Her uncle, himself an intersystem trader, noted that she would find safe haven and a friend in the distant galaxy of Sol, where he had a contact in the form of a small goods company. Her family denied her offer to come along, however, for their own reasons.

    – – –

As such, Teresa closed the cockpit door of the Raven as she readied herself for her journey into the unknown. She paid no mind to the high pitched whine of the warp drives spooling behind her. The grassy plains and stacks of abandoned ships where she had spent her childhood shrank into the distance.

She’d come back sometime, for sure. Perhaps when the skies were a bit more peaceful again. She’d come back with all sorts of gifts for the friends and family she’d leave behind, regale them with the tales of her exploits in faraway worlds. Perhaps.
